Local area veterans gathered July 23, 2010 at Camp FairView on Silver Lake in Lee, ME to hear the results of the 1st ever special disabled veterans Aroostook County moose hunt.  Attending were ME Commissioner of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife, Danny Martin; ME Director of Veterans Services, Peter Ogden; ME Senate District # 30, Elizabeth Schneider; ME Army Chaplain Valmore Vigue; ME Congressional District #11, Everett McLeod.  Peter Ogden read a letter from ME Governor John Baldacci. ME Gold Star parents Paul & Dee House and Bill & Quie Emery hosted a chicken barbecue.


Special Disabled Veterans Aroostook County Moose Hunt 2010
The State of Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife has allocated five (5) moose hunting permits to disabled veterans to participate in the controlled moose hunt in Aroostook County. The date (one week) for the hunt is not yet set but is expected to be for a one week period in September and will occur on farm land specified by Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
