No matter what time of year it is, House in the Woods Military and Family Retreat works hard to make your experience safe and enjoyable. Grateful citizens and businesses generously support our goal of honoring our armed forces, creating a NO COST retreat for our participants. This includes the costs of lodging, meals, gear, and activities. At this time, participants are responsible for their own transportation. We form group retreat activities based on the interests and abilities of each group's participants. Activities run the gamut between being physically mild to strenuous. Some activities may involve water sports. Other activities involve wildlife hunting or fishing. Please let us know what kind of activities you would or would not enjoy. Also we strive to create a balance between facilitating group experiences and allowing for private time. This program is designed to encourage emotional responses to loss, pain, or grief. Each person responds differently, so we encourage patience and empathy for one other. In order to meet program objectives, we ask that you participate in your group with all the activities. |
Participants may be referred through their military base's family support programs; VA centers, hospitals, and organizations; or they may self-apply. Selection into a group is based on availability and on the individual's needs. |
